In partnership with the Cabaret Sauvage and the Festival des Confinés (Paris), Orientalys will be the first to present an original concert bringing together some of the leading figures of French song: Mourad of La Rue Kétanou, Gari and Blu of Massilia Sound System and Loraine and Jessie of Mon Côté Punk.
After 20 years, La Rue Kétanou is still around: singers and poets, extravagant acoustic tightrope walkers, verbal jousting, derision and humour. It has been more than 30 years since Massilia Sound System began singing about Marseille, celebration, love, anger and doubts. Mon Côté Punk, a collective utopia launched in 2003, blends Oriental melodies with wonky tango, Gypsy outpourings and punk tunes. These brilliant instigators of revelry, whose songs have become popular anthems among French youth, put both hips and brains to work. Their warm, poignant music and their hard-hitting, revealing lyrics envelop audiences in a whirlwind of folk and bohemian song.
