Description

(Japan, Quebec)

Explore the wonders of the Land of the Rising Sun through an enchanting musical style that will stir thoughts of magical scenery shaded by cherry blossoms. Let yourself be seduced by its soothing sounds, imbued with a Buddhist spirit that communes serenely with nature.

Matsu Take (meaning pine and bamboo, two trees with great symbolic value in the Japanese culture) is Montréal’s only Japanese chamber music ensemble. It will let you discover the sounds of shakuhachis (bamboo flutes) and kotos (table zithers with harp-like tones), accompanied by traditional percussions, dancing and theatre. By means of classical pieces, folkloric music, contemporary compositions and original arrangements, these performers will enchant you, transcending your senses and immersing you in a zen atmosphere.

Matsu Take offers a captivating invitation to meditation and inner renewal amid age-old musical styles with an essentially modern feel.
