Nrithyalaya is an institution teaching the traditional classical dance of South India called Bharathanatyam. Established in 1976 by Vasantha Krishnan – choreographer, teacher and performer – the school has performed in Canada, USA and in India. Bharathanatyam derived from the temples of South India. The dance form consists of highly intricate footwork with well-structured body movements, hand gestures and facial expressions; all used to tell stories and express religious and spiritual themes.
Dancers: Spandana Veeravally, Sharini Vadivel, Keerthika Kandiah, Maiuri Maheswaran, Bianca Rakheja, Aishwarya Nandakumar and Purnima Raj.
